PowerHouse offers many advanced features not previously offered in home evaluation software

PowerHouse offers many advanced features that have not been available in the past to Insurance Industry Professionals, when trying to accurately evaluate the replacement cost of a dwelling. These new features accurately accommodate the modern trends in finishing, as well as the upgrading of household features that are commonly refashioned. This can be especially useful in situations where an older house has undergone a recent renovation, and the addition is constructed within the parameters of a different class than the original structure. From renovations, to multiple family features, PowerHouse has the tools you need to produce the most accurate evaluations possible.

Automated Dwelling Classes

Instead of memorizing obscure codes or classes to represent the age, type, and quality of dwelling, PowerHouse makes things much simpler. After the user has input the dwelling information, such as square footage, roofing type, flooring types and siding type, PowerHouse will automatically generate the dwelling class, based on these, and other features that are input into the software. It is no longer up to the broker to determine the class of a dwelling.

Additions/Ell

Many homes are enlarged by adding an extra structure onto the home. In some cases, the addition or ell is constructed in an identical manner to the main dwelling. Quite often, however, different types and qualities of construction are implemented. When this happens, the area of the addition cannot be simply added to the main dwelling. This is where the addition / ell section of PowerHouse comes into play, by allowing the user to specify the class, construction type, basement area, and interior wall height, separately from the main dwelling. This allows PowerHouse to determine the replacement cost much more accurately.

Multi-Family Features

More and more homes are now built or modified to add separate suites for extended family or other families. To accommodate this trend, PowerHouse has a section for including additional kitchens, bathrooms, entrances, heating, and electrical services, which can greatly add to the replacement cost of a dwelling.

Interior Wall Height

Many newer homes are built with such architectural features as sunken floors or vaulted ceilings. Instead of guessing at the height of the interior walls based on the age of a dwelling, PowerHouse lets you enter the multiple wall heights. The difference in material and labour costs varies significantly between eight and ten foot walls. Shouldn’t your evaluation software understand this?

Flooring Upgrades

To replace old worn flooring or to create a distinct or more stylish appearance, many homes have carpet and vinyl flooring replaced with other surfaces such as ceramic tile and various forms of natural or manufactured hardwood. PowerHouse takes these changes into consideration by offering a section to accurately reflect the cost of this common upgrade or replacement.

Pools

With more and more homes in Canada now having pools, trying to fit every pool into one of three sizes is no longer acceptable. PowerHouse solves this problem by offering twelve separate shapes and sizes for pools, along with more realistic types of construction, including Gunite/shotcrete and separating vinyl lined pools into two distinct categories.

Kitchen Upgrades

Kitchen renovations are one of the most common upgrades of all. Solid surface counter tops, such as those made by Corian™, Topstone™, Fountianhead™, Avonite™, Pionite™, Gibralter™ and others, are replacing Formica and covered press board counter tops. Upgraded and custom made cabinets are another common, and rarely low cost enhancement. Again, PowerHouse is ready to meet the challenge by dedicating a section to kitchen upgrades.
